Albert was a proud United States Navy veteran and later retired from Shell Oil Company and Morgan Goudeau and Associates. While working seven days on and seven days off at Shell, he also farmed soybeans and raised Charolais cattle, eventually retiring from farming as well. A lifelong resident of the Bosco area, Albert lived on the same land where he was raised as a child-though he preferred to call it Marais Bouleur. He loved riding around the neighborhood on his gator, visiting and checking in on neighbors and friends and always with KBON playing. He especially enjoyed working on his crawfish pond and spending time outdoors. For 27 years, Albert also faithfully enjoyed a weekly card game with friends, a tradition filled with laughter, stories, and lasting friendships. There truly wasn't anything Albert couldn't fix, nor a person he wouldn't help. He was known for his generosity, strong work ethic, and willingness to lend a hand to anyone in need. Albert was a life member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) and proudly served as Commander of Post 9903 for over 20 years. He was also a life member of the American Legion Post 2504, continuing his lifelong commitment to his fellow veterans and his community.

Albert is survived by his loving wife, Gwen; his brother, James Meche; two daughters, Shelly Dautreuil and husband Mitch of Duson, Louisiana, and Tricia Menefee and husband Rusty of Owasso, Oklahoma; and stepdaughter Mandi Veltin. He also leaves behind six grandchildren: Derek Dautreuil, Mitchell Dautreuil II, Taylor Reed and husband Max, Mason Menefee and wife Kenzie, Madison Menefee, and Charlie Veltin; nine great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild on the way. He was preceded in death by his parents, Lastie and Hazel Meche, and his brother, Ronald Meche.

Albert's roots ran deep, and so did his love for his family and community. He lived his life with humility, generosity, and pride in where he came from. His presence will be missed, but his spirit will remain in the place he called home and in the hearts of all who loved him. Arrangements are being handled by Guidry Funeral Home, Inc.
