Albert White Jr. affectionately known as "Junior" or "Captain" was born
on October 20, 1939, to the union of the late Albert White Sr. and Everlee
(Canady) White in
Cleveland, Arkansas. He was the eldest of 10. He was
preceded in death by his parents, sister, Martha White and brothers,
Carthen White, Mervin White, and Werlee White.
Albert departed this earthly life on March 22, 2024, at the Kansas City
Hospice House, surrounded by loved ones.
He was educated at the Conway County Training School in Menifee,
Arkansas. Albert moved to
Kansas City, MO in 1959.
Albert was a faithful member of the Eastside Missionary Baptist Church,
under the leadership of Pastor Jerome Toliver. Albert was a member of
the choir and was always willing to do whatever was needed. He loved his
church family.
Albert worked for the Clay Bailey company until 1967 when he began
employment at the Continental Bakery "Wonder Bread /Hostess company
until he retired after 35 years of service.
Albert married Essie (Williams) White. To this union 3 children were born:
LaWanda "LO", Dion "Dee" and Aaron "AK". He was a dedicated husband
and father. He cherished the time spent with his family. He was a kind and
loving person, he never met a stranger and was always willing to lend a
helping hand.
He loved watching sports, especially the KC Chiefs! His games of choice...
Domino's and bowling. Albert enjoyed traveling and returning to Arkansas
to spend time with family and friends. He also "Loved "gospel music, quartet
harmony was his favorite.
After retirement, he had numerous jobs, but the most important one was
chauffeuring his granddaughter, Shayla and her friends to basketball
practice and games. He was her number 1 Fan! He never missed a game! In
2015, the Raytown Blue Jays girls' basketball team and coaches presented
him with a Varsity Letter "R" He also was the team "Papa".
On any given day you could drive by the house and find Albert on the front
porch. There, he would be laughing and talking with neighbors, family and
friends.
He leaves to cherish his memory, wife Essie White of KCMO; sons, Dion
and Aaron of KCMO; daughter, LaWanda of
Houston, TX; granddaughter
Shayla (Dormic), and great-grandson Derius all of
Houston, TX. Brother
Carlton (Sheila) White; sisters: Alberta Harvey, Gola Byers, and Gwendolyn
Hemingway of KCMO; sister, Marcelle Toney of Commerce Township, MI;
uncle, Sam Rainey of KCMO; sister-in-laws, Mary White of
Cleveland, AR,
Eva Thomas, Marie Warren, and Ethel Williams of KCMO; brother-in-law
John (Lorene) Williams of Plain Dealing, LA and a host of nephews, nieces,
cousins, and friends. Three special daughters, Debra Jenkins, Dedra Raglon,
and Karen
A visitation will be held on Friday, April 5, 2024, from 5:00pm-7:00pm at Lawrence A. Jones & Funeral Chapel. Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, April 6, 2024, 2:00pm at Memorial Church International. Interment Brooking Cemetery. Visitation will from 1pm-2pm at the church.
