Alberta Lillian Estes, 92, of Quaker Highlands Road, Peru, and formerly of the Reservoir Road, Peru, passed away on Friday, September 12, 2025, under the care of Hospice of the North Country and her son and daughter in law, Monte and Laurie Estes.

Alberta was born in Mooers Forks, June 28, 1933, the daughter of Albert and Lillian (Manor) Bashaw. Alberta grew up in Keeseville and went on to work at the Rendezvous Diner in AuSable Forks where she met Rodney Estes, her husband of 68 years. They married February 21, 1955. He predeceased her, September 29, 2023.

Alberta was the proud mother of 5 boys. She worked at home taking care of her family and her house. Alberta had an energy and humor about her that was infectious. She loved to make people smile and laugh. She liked to cut it up so to speak and enjoyed having fun. Most of the time, you could find her with her apron on, preparing delicious food and desserts for her family. She loved to cook and she was good at it. One of our favorite memories was of her Peanut Butter Balls. She would make them every holiday. It was a family favorite, but she rarely let you have more than two. Among the favorites were her delicious pies as well. She loved to run the roads, too. She made many trips to Plattsburgh to shop and eat out with her hidden stash of money; her "Mad Money". In fact, eating out was one of her favorite things to do. She enjoyed that right up to the end. She loved chicken and biscuits. Her favorite meal of the day was breakfast. She loved her pancakes, bacon, and toast. In fact, she told many family members that she wanted to have a big breakfast with everyone right up until the end. The last two years of her life, she loved spending time with Coco sitting on her lap.

Left to cherish the memory of Alberta are, her loving boys, Dale K. Estes (Lisa), Dean A. Estes, Jeffrey B. Estes, Sr. (Cindy), Timothy S. Estes (Teresa), and Monte S. Estes (Laurie); brothers, David Bashaw (Barbara), and Carl Bashaw (Ingrid); sister-in-law, Celia Stephenson (Nick); grandchildren, Ashlee Estes, Jared Estes, Jeffrey Estes Jr. (Dana), Rachel Sperry (Kyle), Matthew Estes (Melinda Delis), Jennifer Brown (Josh), Jeremiah Papineau (Lorna Oppedisano), Heidi Howard (Walter), Heather Carver (Tyler Campbell), and Benjamin (Sara) Estes; 18 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband, Alberta was predeceased by a great-grandson, Jonathan David Estes; her siblings, Alva Blaise (Wilfred), Herbert Bashaw (Anne), Lorraine Donahue (Norman), and Kathleen (Rick) Klages; sisters-in-law; Theresa Estes (Gerald), Betty Murphy (Ed), and Bea Fressie (Frank).

A funeral service will be held Friday, October 3, 2025, at 5:00 PM at the Hamilton Funeral Home, 294 Mannix Road, Peru. A reception will immediately follow at 126 Quaker Highlands Road, Peru, NY, 12972. All are welcome.

Alberta's burial will take place at the convenience of family, in the North Jay Cemetery.

Arrangements are in the care of the Hamilton Funeral Home, 294 Mannix Road, Peru, 518-643-9055.
