Albin was born February 2, 1925, in Waukesha, Wis., to the late John and Catherine (Ronowski) Grandick. He served his country in the U.S. Army-Air Corps during World War II. He married Ethel M. Hoover on November 20, 1948, in Clinton, Iowa. They were blessed with five children. Albin was a self-employed truck driver for most of his life as well as a musician. His life was about machines and music. Albin was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church and the American Legion.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Ethel M. Grandick in 2009; and 6 siblings.
Albin is survived by his daughter, Mary Jo (James) Foss, of Liberty Lake, Wash.; sons, Michael (Marsha) Grandick, of Underwood, Iowa, Daniel (Sally) Grandick, Charles Grandick, James (Mary) Grandick, all of Council Bluffs; 10 grandchildren; 9 great grandchildren, with two on the way; 1 great-great grandchild; sister, Catherine "Dolly" Hamerlinck, of Milan, Ill.; many nieces and nephews.
Memorial visitation, Tuesday, 6 to 8 p.m., at Cutler-O'Neill-Meyer-Woodring Bayliss Park Chapel. Memorial Service, Wednesday, 11 a.m., at the mortuary with Rev. David Fleming officiating. Inurnment St. Joseph Cemetery with military rites tendered by American Legion Post #2. A lunch will follow at St. Patrick's Parish Hall. Memorials are suggested to St. Patrick Catholic Church or Odyssey Hospice.

mary jo i am sorry to hear about your dad i always enjoyed him when he would come to see me at taco bell I just now learned that he had passed away or I would have been at his funeral. he was a great man and I loved him and your mom as if they were my own grandparents or parents but atleast now they are together and can pick up where they left off . if you ever get back to council bluffs please stop in and see me at taco bell

I'm really sorry for your loss he was a joy to talk to every time he came into my work, he always made me laugh and i would talk to him every time he came in, he was a great joy to speak with and he always had interesting stories to tell. I'm really glad i got to see him on his birthday as well, He was truly a blessing. Again i am really sorry to hear about his passing.

To Al's family: I extend my deepest sympathy to you all. I am sure there will be a couple of truckers in heaven rejoicing on a reunion of buddys of the road.
