Alene Grace Pettersen, age 97, of Lake Crystal passed away peacefully in her sleep on February 18, 2025 at Oak Terrace, North Mankato, MN.
Funeral Service will be at 11 a.m., on Tuesday, February 25, 2025 at Zion Lutheran Church, Lake Crystal, MN with visitation one hour prior. Burial will be in Lake Crystal Cemetery. Livestream of the service will be available at www.mankatomortuary.com.
Alene was born September 1, 1927 to Richard and Flossie Moon in Lake Crystal, MN.
Alene was united in marriage to Willard C. Pettersen on January 18, 1947 in Madelia, MN. They made their home in Lake Crystal, MN where they raised their two children.
Alene enjoyed refinishing furniture with her husband, going to auctions, traveling and having Sunday dinner with family, yardwork and going for walks. She had several jobs including cashiering for Gambles and Stan & Joes Meat Market. After retiring she volunteered at The Grace Thrift Store in Lake Crystal, MN for 10+ years.
Alene is survived by her daughter, Peggy (Steve) Helder of Lake Crystal, MN; daughter-in-law, Kathy Pettersen of New Ulm, MN; grandkids, Kimberly Helder and Chris (Tawni) Helder both of Lake Crystal, MN, Justin (Jamie) Pettersen and Jared (Jessica) Pettersen both of New Ulm, MN; great-grandchildren, Bradly Helder (Tristan Lewis) of Lake Crystal, MN, Dalton (Cheyenne) Watson of Mankato, MN, Alayna (TJ) Eckman and Macey (Garrett) Schmidt both of Rapid City, SD, and Jayden and Jocelyn Pettersen of New Ulm, MN; brother-in-law, Melvin (Cheryl) Pettersen of Lake Crystal, MN, as well as many nieces, nephews, and friends.
Alene was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Willard; son, Dwight; sisters, Doreen, Marlene and Gloria; brothers, Edward, Alden, Willford, Darrell, Merrill and Don, as well as many extended family members.
