Aletha A. "Lee" Hartrick, age 91, of Fremont, passed away at her home on Wednesday, November 15, 2023. She was born on October 23, 1932 in Urbana, IL, the daughter of the late John and Ann (Young) Bell.
On November 21, 1953, Aletha married Rev. Paul W Hartrick in Champaign, Illinois. Lee earned her degree as a registered nurse from Methodist College of Nursing in Peoria, Illinois They traveled all over the world during his tour of duty in the US Air Force as an aviator and in the US Army as a chaplain. Where ever Paul was stationed, Lee was a nurse. Paul preceded her in death on June 24, 2002. Once the family moved to Fremont, Lee worked as a nurse at Riverside Medical Center in Waupaca for 14 years before retiring. She was a member of St. Paul Ev. Lutheran Church in Fremont and a former member of Emmaus Lutheran Church in the Town of Lind. She was also a member of the Methodist Nurses Alumni Association. Lee enjoyed quilting, antiques,collecting Hummel figurines, traveling, knitting hats and booties, taking care of her garden and flower beds, and going "junking", she volunteered at Bethesda Thrift store, and she and Paul enjoyed volunteering at EAA for many years.
Aletha is survived by three children, her son, Paul R (Karen) Hartrick, Fremont and two daughters, Marlyn (Jared) Weiss, Clinton Township. MI and Becky Schroeder, Oshkosh; nine grandchildren, Theodore (Rebecca) Weiss and their children, Paul T, Joel, Anna and Hope; Brandi(Ryan)Smith; Sarah(Laurie) Hartrick-Roderick, and their children, Maxwell and Finley; Paul A (Alicia) Hartrick, and their daughter, Zoey; Jesse(Sarah)Hartrick-Schraufnagel; Bryton Schroeder and Logan (Fiancé, Courtney Dering) Schroeder; Angela(John)Woods and their daughter, Amber; Paul, Travis, other relatives and friends.
In addition to her parents, and her husband, Paul, she was preceded in death by a great-grandson, Luke Weiss and her sister-in-law, Debra Purfield.
A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, December 16, 2023 at 11:00 am at St. Paul Ev. Lutheran Church, 107 Tustin Rd., Fremont. Pastor Mark Drengler and Pastor Kurt Schilling will officiate. Visitation will be held at St. Paul Ev. Lutheran Church on Saturday, from 9:00 am until 11:00 am. Inurnment will be in Urbana, Illinois at a later date. A memorial fund has been established for St. Paul Lutheran Church and Emmaus Lutheran Church.
