Alex Deneke

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Alexander Frederick Deneke, 43, of Oak Park, Michigan, on Thursday, December 19, 2024.
Born on May 16, 1981, in Pine Bluff, Arkansas, Alex was the youngest son of Dr. and Mrs. William Deneke. He grew up in Pine Bluff and graduated from Pine Bluff High School before pursuing his education in Memphis, Tennessee, and Little Rock, Arkansas. He earned his degree from the University of Arkansas at Little Rock and later followed his passion for storytelling to Troy, Michigan, where he attended the Motion Picture Institute for film school.
Alex was a man of quick wit, sharp humor, and an enormous heart that we saw glimpses of through his bright smile. Those who knew and loved him have countless cherished memories of his hilarious stories and perfectly timed jokes, often leaving everyone in tears of laughter.
He was an aficionado of both movies and music, sharing his enthusiasm through in-depth discussions about films and artists with friends and family. Alex was also an avid sports fan, passionately supporting the Arkansas Razorbacks, Detroit Tigers, Red Wings, Pistons, and especially the Detroit Lions, whose success this year brought him immense excitement.
Alex is preceded in death by his father, Dr. William "Bill" Deneke. He is survived by his loving mother, Sue Gordin Deneke of Pine Bluff, Arkansas; his devoted partner, Robin Evans of Oak Park, Michigan, and her children Veronica and Pierson; and his brothers, Matthew Deneke (Shannon) of Little Rock, Arkansas, and Edward Deneke (Christy) of Ann Arbor, Michigan. He also leaves behind his adored nieces and nephews-Jacob (21), Alexandra (19), Noah (18), Ava Chris (12), Westley (11), and Ella (11)-as well as his step-grandson, Daelyn (3), who lovingly called him "Pappy."
Alex's legacy of humor, creativity, and compassion will live on in the hearts of all who were lucky enough to know him. A private celebration of his life will be held at a future date.
