Alex Joseph Kocsis, age 91 of Monroe, passed away Monday, September 4, 2023.
Alex was born November 17, 1931, in Delray, MI to the late Steve and Theresa (Kadar) Kocsis. He attended school in Maybee, MI, and was later awarded his high school diploma. Alex went on to serve his country honorably in the United States Air Force from 1950 until 1954, during the Korean War. He married Shirley Roof on April 7, 1956, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Ida, MI, and together they raised five children.
In his spare time, Alex enjoyed spending time with his family and friends and traveling. He also loved volunteering his time working at the hospital.
Alex is survived by his wife Shirley, and his children, Wanda (Ralph) Raiford of Ann Arbor, MI, Gary Kocsis of Belleville, MI, and Denise (Roger) Egland of Venice, FL, seven grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Lorraine Kocsis, a son, Wayne Kocsis, and a half-brother, Julius Zapko.
In accordance with his wishes, cremation has taken place with the assistance of Rupp Funeral Home. Private services will be held at a later date.
