June 23, 1956 – August 28, 2025

Sherry Kay Buchanan, age 69 of Monroe, passed away peacefully with loved ones by her side on Thursday, August 28, 2025.

Born June 23, 1956 in Monroe. She was the daughter of the late Elmer and Orise (Wells) Lawson. Sherry graduated from Monroe High School.

After school, she became a Nurse Aide at a nursing home as well later on in life she took care of her siblings. Sherry worked for many years as a cashier at a couple of different retail stores (food town) (family dollar) until she retired.

Sherry met and married the love of her life on September 2, 1988 at Bethany Baptist Church of Monroe. They had a family of two children. They spent over 20+ years together before James sadly passed away on March 17th, 1996.

Most importantly, she treasured her quality time with family. Her four grandsons were her whole world. Sherry was always there to take care of them whenever needed. She was a sweet and genuine soul. Sherry will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

Beloved mother of Michael (Melissa) Buchanan and Jennifer Antrim. Loving grandmother of Ryan & Ryker Antrim and Trevor & Austin Buchanan. Dear sister of Mildred Bores, Cathy (Norman) Dewilde, and Diane Lawson.

In addition to her parents, Sherry was preceded in death by husband: James Buchanan; granddaughter: Nevaeh Buchanan; and siblings: Arnold, Ronald, Roy, and Deborah Lawson.

In accordance with her wishes, cremation has taken place with no services at this time. She will later be laid to rest at Michigan Memorial Park, Flat Rock. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Rupp Funeral Home. Online condolences may be sent to www.ruppfuneralhomeinc.com
