Pete Quisenberry

December 3, 1937 – August 27, 2025

Charles "Pete" Quisenberry, age 87 of Monroe, passed away suddenly on Wednesday, August 27, 2025, at his home.

Pete was born on December 3, 1937, in Southfield, MI. He was the son of the late Hugh and Hazel (Sargent) Quisenberry. After graduating high school, he continued his education at Ferris Institute, where he earned his bachelor's in pharmacology in 1960.

Pete met the love of his life, Nancy Hammond while at college. They got married on August 29, 1959, at a Methodist Church in Redford, MI. They raised a family of three children and spent over 63 wonderful years together before Nancy sadly passed away in 2023.

In 1965, Pete purchased and operated Weisel Drugstore that was in downtown Monroe, serving the Monroe community for 31 years before retiring in 1996.

In his younger years, he was the Executive Director of the Monroe County Republican Party. Pete was named President of Big Brother of Monroe in 1968. He was also a member of Monroe Golf and County Club. After his kids were grown, he became an avid golfer and enjoyed playing on a beautiful day.

After working all day, Pete would come home in the summer and spend his time out in the barn with Jody and Steven. They were very involved in the Monroe County 4-H Program. Every weekend he was there to help bathe and prepare the horses for show. During the fall he would spend his time hunting with his son Jeff. Pete was involved in all of his children's activities. Pete was also a coach for his daughters' softball team for many years. He was an avid Detroit Lions fan and enjoyed watching any game.

Most importantly, he treasured time with his family. Pete will be deeply missed and cherished in the hearts of his loved ones.

Loving father of Jeff (Susan) Quisenberry, Jody (Eric) Czarniowski, and Steven (Sonya) Quisenberry. Dearest grandfather of Amanda (Scott) Bauerschmidt, Laura Weiss, Josh (Sally) Quisenberry, Jessica (Tyler) Pickell, Jenna Quisenberry, Matthew (Samantha) Quisenberry, Morgan Quisenberry, Melissa Meyers, Chris Meyers, Michelle Meyers, and David Meyers. Great grandfather of several great grandchildren. Also survived by many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Pete was preceded in death by wife: Nancy; and siblings: Thomas, Jon, and Jane Quisenberry.

Family and friends are invited to a visitation on Saturday, September 6, 2025, at Rupp Funeral Home from 2 until 8 pm. The funeral service will be on Sunday, September 7, 2025, with a short viewing from 12 noon until the time of service at 3 pm, at Rupp Funeral Home. Officiating is Rev. Rick Massingill. In accordance with his wishes, cremation will conclude services.
