Alex Bernard Pickens, affectionally known as Bernard, was called home on October 22, 2025. Born in Houston, Texas on February 1, 1959, Alex was a faithful warrior, loving shepherd, and radiant vessel of God's grace. He spent his life spreading the word of God and living a life that exemplified faith, dedication, and love. There is solace in knowing as it is noted in 2 Timothy 4:7, "I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith."
Alex was a loving husband to Berlinda, a devoted father to Anthony and Devon, and a cherished brother to Deborah, Sarah, and Apostle Kevin Pickens. He also embraced Rebecca as a daughter, his son Anthony's wife. His parents, Grace and Alex Pickens, preceded him in death. His family was his rock, and he held them close to his heart always.
His professional journey was as remarkable as his personal life. After graduating South Park High School, Alex attended and graduated from International Bible College where he started his years in ministry. He then continued his service to God as a youth pastor in Canton, Ohio, later serving as the youth pastor of Full Gospel Church in Greensburg, Pa. He served as the senior pastor of New Castle Revival Center in New Castle, Pa, and was ordained as an Apostle in 2013 by Bishop Edward Shouse. His significant work as the Missions Director through Greater Emmanuel Fellowship International and his successful installation of Bishop Emmanuel Mensah in Africa as an International ambassador of Greater Emmanuel International Fellowship are testaments to his dedication. He served as the Senior Pastor of Deliverance Praise Temple from 1995 until his departure. He was committed to building the Kingdom of God and touched countless lives through his ministry.
Alex was a man of many talents. Apart from his lifelong dedication to the ministry, he loved playing racketball, watching soccer, and most of all cooking. He was a charismatic leader and a resilient servant of God who dedicated his life to his faith, family, and ministry. His spirit, love, and dedication will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew him.
As we remember Alex's life and celebrate his heavenly journey, we invite you to leave your memories and upload photos to the memorial page. It is a testament of Alex's life, a life well lived, and a life that touched so many. Let us continue to celebrate him in death as we did in life, with love, respect, and faith.
