Alex Romanov, 83, of Platteville, Wisconsin, formerly of St. Louis, Missouri, went home to be with his Lord and Savior, Sunday, August 24, 2025.

Alex was born in Mariupol, Ukraine on April 1, 1942, the son of Visily and Irina Romanen. On July 11, 1970, he was united in marriage to Jo Ann Rosemeyer at St. Mary's Catholic Church. He graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Platteville with a degree in Construction Management and worked on projects in Alaska, California, Texas, Ohio, Louisiana, New York, and St. Louis. He enjoyed carpentry, fishing, shopping at Aldis, and crossword puzzles. He was a trivia wiz and had a quick wit and a unique sense of humor. Al enjoyed spending time with his children, his grandchildren, and all of his nieces and nephews. He never met a cheese curd he didn't like.

Alex is survived by his wife, Jo Ann Romanov of Platteville; two sons, Nicholas Romanov and Alexander Romanov of St. Louis, MO; three grandchildren, Riley, Cole and Anthony; his sister, Valentina Romanov (Leon) Hill of Rochester, NY; sister-in-law, Mary Rosemeyer of Platteville; and brothers-in-law, Jim (Lorri) Rosemeyer and Gary Olson of Platteville; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Visily and Irina (Golobokova) Romanen; brother, Walter Romanov; and sisters-in-law, Ina Romanov and Laurie Rosemeyer.

A Visitation will be held on Monday, September 1st, from 9-11 am at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Platteville WI, followed by a parish rosary, and at 11:30 am a Mass of Christian Burial.
