Share your Memorial with Family & Friends Alex Frank Thompson III (Trey), 43, of Gadsden, Alabama, formerly of Americus, Georgia, passed away Friday morning, June 30th, at Holmes Regional Medical Center in Melbourne, Florida, surrounded by family and close friends. Trey was born December 18th, 1979, in Albany, Georgia, to Frank Thompson, Jr. and Wanda Mulkey Thompson. He graduated from Americus High School in 1998 and attended Lee University in Cleveland, Tennessee, where he studied Student Ministry and met Haven Hendrix Thompson who would later become his wife. In 2020, he graduated from Highlands College with a Certificate of Ministry Leadership. He served as Highlands College Evening Director with the Gadsden Campus of Church of the Highlands. He was an ordained minister with the Church of God and formerly served in various ministry capacities in Alabama and Georgia. Trey was a follower of Jesus and lived his life with eternity in mind. He loved his family deeply and raised his children to live their own lives of eternal impact. He had a unique pastoral gifting which allowed him to invest in countless lives with his wisdom, patience, and compassion. He never missed an opportunity to give encouragement or to develop a deeper connection with the people God placed in his life. Trey was a leader of leaders, and was known for creating a culture of family and taking ownership of the world around him. He leaves behind a legacy that will continue touching lives for years to come. Trey is survived by his wife of 20 years, Haven Hendrix Thompson, and his four sons: Beau Thompson, Luke Thompson, Reid Thompson, and Ray Thompson, all of Gadsden, Alabama. His mother, Wanda Mulkey Thompson, of Deatsville, Alabama, his sister, Sherry Thompson Campbell (Jeff) of Deatsville, Alabama, his mother-in-law, Rosella Davenport, his brothers-in-law, Cain Hendrix (Abbie) and Eric Hendrix, and several nieces and nephews.He was preceded in death by his father, Frank Thompson, Jr., Maternal Grandparents, Harvey and Elizabeth Mulkey, and Paternal Grandparents, Frank Thompson, Sr. and Charlie Mae Thompson.A Celebration of Life Service is planned for July 13th at 1:00 pm at the Gadsden Campus of Church of the Highlands, which is located at 4409 Airport Road, Gadsden, AL 35904. For those wanting to honor his life, the family has requested memorial contributions be made to Highlands College. Trey dedicated his life to training up ministry leaders and desired that finances would never be the reason someone was unable to pursue their calling.
