Alexander Pierre Bourque, 89, passed away on November 6, 2024, in Lake Charles, LA. Born on April 6, 1935, to Moise Bourque and Elena Bijeaux Bourque in Youngsville, LA, Alexander was a modest man who lived a simple life. His unwavering resolve and perseverance cultivated a family that spans three generations, all of whom will cherish his legacy and endeavor to uphold his enduring values.

From humble beginnings, Alexander developed a remarkable work ethic and a resourcefulness that allowed him to repair anything and improve any situation. He retired after 30 years of faithful service as a Longshoreman for The Port of Lake Charles. He lived without complaint, transforming even the most challenging moments into something meaningful and beautiful.

Alexander honorably served in the United States Marine Corps and was known for his skill and passion as a carpenter. He enjoyed woodworking, hunting, fishing, gardening, video poker, classic cowboy shows and cheering on LSU football and baseball. Above all, he cherished his family, who were his greatest joy. He found contentment in both abundance and simplicity throughout his life. To his family, he was "Poppa," their "Unsung Hero," whom they will miss forever.

Left to cherish his memory are his children: Sandy Bel (Bub) of Lake Charles, LA; Leslie Comeaux (Brian) of Lake Charles, LA; and Thad Bourque (Jodie) of Lafayette, LA; his grandchildren: Hunter Habetz, Braden Comeaux (Karissa), Grant Comeaux, John Albert Bel IV (Alli), Alex Bel (Baylee), Quinn Bel, , and Anna Grace Bourque; and his great-grandchildren: John Albert Bel V, Trampas, Eloise, Raeleigh, and Noah.

He is preceded in death by his beloved wife, Anna Grace Menard Bourque; his son, Bryan; his parents; and his siblings, Bernice, Wade, Lester and Mildred.

The family extends special gratitude to Dr. Craig Broussard, Jennifer Wainwright, and the staff of Lake Charles Memorial Hospital, ICU, 7-Tower, and 2-Tower, for their compassionate care.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 2:00 PM on Monday, November 11, 2024, at Our Lady Queen of Heaven Catholic Church. Msgr. Daniel Torres will serve as Celebrant. Burial will follow at Prien Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home of Lake Charles. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Monday from 11:00 AM until 1:45 PM, with a rosary recited at 1:00 PM.
