Alexander R. "Sandy" Lang, 76, peacefully departed this world on Thursday, February 29, 2024. Born on February 25, 1948, in Providence, RI, Alexander was the son of the late William H. and Jean (MacNaught) Lang. He married the love of his life, Michele F. (McAleer) Lang, and together they celebrated 50 years of marriage, a testament to the enduring strength of their bond.
Alexander, a proud Veteran, served with honor, in the United States Army, dedicating himself to the service of his nation. Following his military service, he graduated in 1980 with honors from Providence College. He also embarked on a 40-year career at Kent Hospital, where his commitment and hard work led him to the position of Department Head.
Alexander cherished his Scottish heritage, but his deepest pride lay in his family. He was a constant presence in his children's lives, coaching his children in soccer and taking hikes to the waterfalls. His recent greatest joys came from his three grandchildren, who brought immeasurable happiness to his later years.
Besides his wife Michele F. Lang, he is survived by his three children: Jennifer Lang of Sacramento, CA, Patrick Lang of West Warwick, Jarod Lang and his wife Katie of Coventry, and; three grandchildren: Alex, Addison and Max; one brother William Lang and a cousin Kenneth MacNaught.
Relatives may go directly to the RI Veterans Cemetery for committal prayers and military honors on Friday, March 22, 2024 at 11:00 a.m.
