Alexander Spezzafero

Alexander V. Spezzafero "Al" 82 of Harwich, MA passed away on September 29th, 2021, in the peaceful care of The McCarthy Care Center with his loving family by his side.
Al was a devoted Catholic, born in Boston, MA on March 3rd, 1939, to the late Vincent and Mildred Spezzafero of Cambridge, MA. He grew up in Cambridge, before meeting the love of his life Norma Gardiner Spezzafero. Al and Norma settled in Maynard, MA where they raised their family.
Al worked for the United States Postal Service before becoming a mechanic, he then went on to a long career as a Project Manager for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. In his early years, before switching over to his favorite pastime of golf, he enjoyed working on cars, as well as tending to his gardens and bowling. Al cherished spending winters in Florida meeting new friends, but his true passion in life was always his family.
Al joins Norma, his loving wife of 51 years in the afterlife. He is survived by his son Scott Spezzafero of Sudbury, MA, daughter Jeanmarie Cottle and her husband Paul of Harwich, MA, grandsons Owen and Joseph Cottle of Harwich, MA, sister Jean Spezzafero of Billerica, MA, and sister Janet Devlin and her husband Ed of Billerica, MA. Al was the brother of the late Doris Spezzafero of Cambridge, MA. Al also leaves behind many extended family members including nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Al will also be reuniting with Patrick, his faithful shadow and companion buddy, who was never far from his side.
Visting hours for Al will be held on Saturday October 9th from 12-1 pm at Chapman Funerals and Cremations - Blute Chapel in Harwich Center followed by a graveside service at Evergreen Cemetery in Harwich.
