Alexander Roscoe Thomas III entered the arms of the Lord on January 19, 2026. Born to Louise B. Thomas and Alex R. Thomas Jr. on October 12, 1957, in San Antonio, he was a mischievous and totally adorable child. His paternal grandparents were Lydia Foreman Thomas and Alexander R. Thomas Sr., from whom he acquired his name. His maternal grandparents were Archie C. Bird and Arthur S. Bird, who he strongly resembled.
He is survived by his mother and by his wife Holly Feller Thomas to whom he was married for 28 years. He was devoted to his beloved wife, who took magnificent care of him during the last year of his illness. He cared deeply for his children: his son Taylor Sean Thomas, his son Jordan Farris and wife Molly, and his daughter Channing Farris Wilson and husband Brad. He delighted in his grandchildren: Levi Farris, Estelle Farris, Brynn Wilson and Jennings Wilson. He is also survived by his three older sisters: Judith Lackritz and husband Bill Long, Laura Starks and husband David, and Susan Louise Thomas. He leaves behind nephews and nieces, who were very fond of their uncle. He is survived by his brother-in-law Zack Feller and his sister-in-law Stephanie Latham and his three cousins: Van Wyck Brinkerhoff, William E. Thomas, Jr. and Barbara Brinkerhoff Wood.
He was proud to be a resident of Boerne, where he lived for many years, and of his business, Thomas Rentals, for which he had prepared Jordan to continue to operate after he was gone, though he did not expect it to be so soon. He found great joy in life's simple pleasures – long days at the lake enjoying water sports, quiet moments spent fishing, a perfectly cooked steak, and settling in for a good movie. Above all else, music held a special place in his heart; whether playing his guitar or listening to his favorite songs, music was how he expressed himself and connected with the world around him.
Funeral Services will be held at 2 pm on Monday, January 26 at Ebensberger-Fisher Funeral Home in Boerne. In lieu of flowers, donations honoring Alex may be made to Vault Fostering Community or the charity of one's choice.
