Alexia Barnett Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Rossi Family Funeral Home, Inc. on Oct. 8, 2025.

Alexia M. Barnett, age 22, passed away in North Carolina on Saturday, October 4, 2025. She was born in Canton on September 23, 2003 and graduated from Hoover High School. She loved gaming (Call of Duty), building Legos, collecting stickers, and unique collectables that matched her equally unique personality.
She is survived by her parents John Barnett and Nicole (John Faverty) Barnett; yiayia and papou Nick and Grace Margaritakis, grandparents Bill and Carla Barnett, John and Katie Faverty; great-grandmother Mildred Swigart; siblings Johnnie Barnett Jr., Natalie Barnett, Ava Faverty, and Ashley Faverty; boyfriend Joel King and his mother Debbie King. Alexia is also survived by many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.
Alexia was born with a connective tissue disorder called Marfan Syndrome. This condition required her to have multiple surgeries throughout her life. She always kept a positive outlook in life even during these times. She would face these challenges without fear, toting her lucky stuffed animal "Lambie" in hand, and encouraged everyone around her not to worry because "I've got this!". She once said, "I'd do it all over again in any universe as long as everyone I love stays healthy."
She was a collector of many things both conventional and one of a kind. While her sticker collection was vast, it was well organized in numerous large binders. She loved to wear cute, whimsical socks and insisted that they never be a matching pair. Her randomness and free-spirited attitude was seen in the items that she would purchase. She also enjoyed giving names to everything she had, such as Dinkle the Christmas tree, Mr. Meatball the California Raisin (toy figurine), Steve the Stapler (lawn ornament), and Frank (Sinatra) her Nissan Sentra. From squirrel finger puppets to a Loch Ness Monster soup ladle she bought to use when she bought her own home, she always emitted an aura that was entirely her own.
Alexia enjoyed getting her hands dirty and being the handyman of the house. From painting to replacing outlets, she enjoyed working on the house and fixing things that needed attention. She went as far as to personalize all her hand tools by painting the lettering in pink. She spent time working with her boyfriend Joel in their garage repairing small engines and other tasks local individuals requested of them.
Alexia was a lover of animals especially horses, llamas, and dogs. She did however have a strange fear of being attacked by birds. She cherished her two pet chinchillas Rex and Goose whom she considered her children. She will be reunited with her faithful dog Edgrrr Allen Pup, chameleon Timmy, and guinea pig Chowder in heaven.
Family and friends will be received at the Rossi Family Funeral Home on Sunday, October 12, 2025 from 1 to 3 p.m. Trisagion services begin in the funeral home at 3 p.m., with Rev. Dr. Nicholas V. Gamvas officiating.
In lieu of flowers, donations, in Alexia's name, may be made to The Marfan Foundation (https://marfan.org/donate/).
