John M. Bednar, 56, of Massillon, OH, passed away November 13, 2025.
John was born on May 28, 1969, in Cleveland, OH, to John Bednar Barbara Hill. He was a 1987 graduate of Hoover High School. John worked as an Assistant Underwriter for Nationwide Insurance for many years. John had a wide array of activities that he enjoyed; he liked to ride bikes, he liked to play airsoft, he enjoyed eating hot dogs, playing Xbox, and John especially loved spending time with his cats. In 2014, John completed Hall of Fame Half Marathon, which was an incredible accomplishment considering his health issues. In 1996, John married the love of his life, Karen Bednar (Nelson). Together, they enjoyed traveling; they loved to go to Myrtle Beach as well as plan special “mission” trips, on the hunt for the best local hot dog.
John is survived by his loving wife of 29 years, Karen Bednar, as well as his parents John Bednar and Barbara Hill, and his sister, Jodi Flory (Tom). He will also be missed by his aunts and uncles, as well as a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
He is preceded in death by his sister, Julie Ross, and his fur babies, Izzy, Blanche, Agnes, Clancie and Montgomery.
Per John’s request, cremation has taken place. A Celebration of Life will be announced at a later date.
