Alfonse Gama, often affectionately known as Al, passed away on the 30th of November, 2023. Born on September 27, 1938, in Brooklyn, NY, he was the valued son of the late Frances & Raymond Gama, cherished brother of Phil & Marieanne, and has now joined his predeceased siblings, Robert & Raymond.
Surviving Al is his beloved wife Marie and his devoted children, Michael and Lisa. He was endeared as an adoring grandfather to Michael, John, and Alii. Al was a cherished father-in-law, brother-in-law and an uncle to countless nieces and nephews. His love for animals was exemplified in his special bond with his four-legged great-granddaughter, Cara.
Having served as Vice President at Chase Bank for 39 years, Al made significant contributions to the service industry. Outside of his professional realm, he served in the United States Army, he was a proud member of the Richmond Boro Gun Club since 1974, an avid golfer and bowler; Al was a true master of all trades.
He will always be remembered for his infectious smile, generosity and spending time with his family and friends.
As we remember and celebrate his life, we ask that instead of flowers, please make donations to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, the Tunnel to Towers Foundation, or Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy in his beloved memory. Alfonse Gama, a life beautifully lived, a soul wonderfully remembered.
Visitation will be held at Hanley Funeral Home on New Dorp Lane on Friday December 8th, from 3pm-5pm and 7pm-9pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Saturday December 9th, at St. Charles Church 9:15am. Interment to follow at the Cemetery of the Resurrection 10:45am
