Alfonso Mata
LEIPSIC – Alfonso Mata, 77, of Leipsic, passed away at 3:27 p.m., Saturday, January 24, 2026, at South Texas Heart System, McCallen, TX. He was born August 2, 1948, in Edcouch, TX to the late Jesus and Camilla (Sanchez) Mata. On March 11, 1967, he married Sara Acevedo, who preceded him in death on April 25, 2025.
Survivors include seven children: Sarah Carrillo of TX, Jose Mata, Esmeralda Lucero, both of Columbus, Noraelia Elizarraga of Leipsic, David Mata of Columbus, Veronica Mata and Rebeca Giron, both of Leipsic; 20 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; and five siblings: Ignacio Mata, Juan Francisco Mata, Juan Manuel Mata, Jesus Mata and Yolanda Briseno.
Alfonso retired from Hirzel Canning, Ottawa. He was a member of Fountain of Life Pentecostal Church, Leipsic. Alfonso loved spending time with his friends and family.
Funeral services will begin at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, January 31, 2026, at Fountain of Life Pentecostal Church, Leipsic with Pastor Jose Zamora officiating. Burial will follow in Sugar Ridge Cemetery, Leipsic. Visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on Saturday at LOVE-HEITMEYER FUNERAL HOME, Leipsic.
Memorial donations may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.
