Alfonso "Ponchito" Sotelo, was a loved father, grandfather, brother, husband, and friend. He was called to Heaven on April 22, 2025 at the age of 66 after a tough battle with cancer, surrounded by his loved ones. Alfonso was born October 2, 1958. For most of his life, he was a professional tile layer but was known by most for his passion for music. Alfonso would spend countless hours learning new songs to sing and how to play them on his guitar. Alfonso enjoyed singing not only for himself but for others as well. Alfonso was also known for being physically fit and he loved running, walking, and doing his famous Superman pushups. Alfonso also enjoyed playing pool and fishing, specifically at Galveston Beach. Alfonso was a man whose life was guided by his unwavering faith in God. He was always willing to help anyone and was always a very generous man.
Although he is no longer with us, he will never be forgotten. He is loved greatly by his family and friends and will be deeply missed. Alfonso's voice and memory will continue to live with us forever. Until we meet again.
Alfonso is survived and missed by his wife Josie Sotelo; his three children, Marcus Sotelo and wife Keila Hiracheta, Joey Sotelo and wife Kyla Sotelo, and Marissa Sotelo-Vela and husband Conrad Vela IV. His grandchildren, Xavier Sotelo, Maliyah Sotelo, Mason Sotelo, Joey Sotelo, Zoe Vela, Khloe Vela, Sophie Vela, and Conrad Vela V. His siblings Manuel Sotelo, Julio Sotelo, Carlos Sotelo, Elaine Sotelo, and Virginia Lara.
