Alford "Lee" Looney, age 65, of Mena, Arkansas passed away on Wednesday, January 29, 2025, at the Mena Regional Health System in Mena, Arkansas. He was born on Saturday, April 11, 1959, to William Perry Looney and Dorothy Campbell Looney in Mena, Arkansas.
Lee followed in the family footsteps by serving his country in the US Army where he achieved the rank of Staff Sergeant. Following his Army career he came home to Mena, Arkansas where he worked at Tyson in Waldron, Arkansas becoming a supervisor over several sections of the plant.
Lee was many names to many people, solidifying his status as a Family man. His relationship with and faith in the Lord only grew stronger as he grew older.
Lee loved the outdoors and enjoyed fishing, hunting, and gardening; many times reminding us "The Lord will provide, we just have to open our eyes and look" as he swept his hand across the air at God's creations. Lee enjoyed bringing his bounty from the land to the kitchen and could be found at the stove cooking, canning or on the grill BBQ'ing.
Lee's appreciation of music was limitless. He taught himself how to play the guitar at an early age in life and his kids would swear there wasn't a song he couldn't learn by sound alone. Truly a Gift from God.
Lee was a proud man- he was proud of the Lord, he was proud of his family; but the number one thing he was most proud of was to be called "DAD".
Alford is preceded in death by his parents; his brothers, Alvin Looney and Allan Looney; his sister, Althea Rogers; and his oldest daughter, Chasity Lynn Beck (Looney).
Alford is survived by his loving wife, Lellan Looney of Mena; his daughters, April Frazier (husband Rob) of Gatesville Texas, and Katlin Looney of Mena; his son, Dakota Looney of Mena; his sister, Almeda Henderson of Locust Grove; his brother, Alton Looney of Mena; several grandchildren, nieces and nephews and a host of other relatives and friends.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, February 8, 2025, at 12:00 PM at the Midway Freewill Baptist Church in Board Camp, Arkansas with Brother Troy Denton officiating. Cremation arrangements are entrusted to Bowser Family Funeral Home in Mena, Arkansas.
