Alfred was born on November 16, 1950 in Peoria, IL to Alfred G. and Betty J. (Smythe) Block. He married Kathryn J. Cain on September 21, 1975 in Peoria, IL.
Surviving are his wife of almost 49 years, Kathryn; his children, Sarah L. Varnes of Peoria, IL and Alex R. (Jennifer) Block of Chillicothe, IL; his grandchildren, Alaina, Addison, Ryan and Ella; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and four siblings.
Alfred served in the US Army during the Vietnam War and then was the Service Manager for Mike Murphy Ford and then for Roland Rich Ford, retiring in 2017.
Cremation rites will be accorded and there will be no services at this time. Arrangements are under the care of Weber-Hurd Funeral Home in Chillicothe. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or an Veteran Assistance Programs. To plant a beautiful memorial tree in memory of Alfred, please visit our Tree Store.
