Alfred Victor "Al" Bowden, 93, of Fairborn, Ohio, passed to his new life in heaven on Sunday, June 12, 2022. Al was born on January 31, 1929, in Jacksonville, Florida. In 1947, he married Helen Nielsen and they had three sons, Richard, Terry and Robert.

Al was a minister with the Church of the Nazarene for nearly 40 years, serving churches in Florida and traveling as an evangelist for seven years in multiple states. He had also worked for 20 years in the paving and streets department for the City of Jacksonville, attaining the position of Assistant Paving Engineer.

Al was preceded in death by his parents, E.P and Pearl Townsend, his brothers, Eldridge "Tump" Townsend, Joe Townsend and his sister, Delores "DeeDee" Taylor. He is survived by his wife, Helen Bowden and sons Richard Bowden (Carolyn), Terry Bowden (Lisa) and Robert Bowden along with grandchildren David Bowden (Penny), Jeremy Bowden (Julie), Sarah Ruhe (Jacob), Rachel Good (Tanner), Nicolas Bowden (Adriana), Bethany Bowden, Bobby Bowden (Teresa) ten great grandchildren and his sister Mary Creel.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, June 18, 2022 from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm with a funeral service at 2:00 pm at Newcomer Funeral Home (3380 Dayton-Xenia Road, Beavercreek, Ohio 45432). Interment will be held privately at the Byron Cemetery in Fairborn.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Nazarene Compassionate Ministries at P.O. Box 843116, Kansas City, MO 64184 in Al's honor.
