Mary Alice Shade, age 80 of Riverside, passed away Friday, August 29, 2025 at Traditions of Beavercreek. She was born January 29, 1945 in Dayton, Ohio the daughter of the late Rufus and Loraine Silvey.
Mary found great joy in life through caring for children - her own, her grandchildren, her great grandchildren and the many lives she touched as a preschool teacher. Her legacy lives on with the love of her family and her countless students who carried forward the lessons she lovingly shared. In her free time, she enjoyed traveling, bowling and playing cards with friends.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Robert William Shade Sr.; and sisters, Sharon Brush and Pat Silvey.
Mary is survived by her children, Robert (Wendy) Shade Jr., Dee Dee Martin, Angel (Dale Watts) Shade, Sean Shade and Justin (Jennifer) Shade; grandchildren, Robert Shade III, Brittany Shade, Krystal (Mark Lee) Shade, Ryan (Andres Paiva) Shade, Dillon Shade, Cameron Shade, Ashley (David) Benallo, Jackson Shade and Aubrey Shade; great grandchildren, Macie Shade, Laiken Trego and Angel Bell Lee; brother, John (Brenda) Silvey; and brother-in-law, Harold Brush.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society in Mary's honor.
Visitation will be held at Friday, September 5, 2025 from 12:00 pm to 1:00 pm with a Funeral Service at 1:00 pm at Newcomer Funeral Home(3380 Dayton-Xenia Rd., Beavercreek, Ohio 45432). Mary will be laid to rest at Willow View Cemetery following the service.
