ALFRED DONOVAN RIVERS, JR.
Don “Donnie” Rivers, Jr. was born in Chesterfield, SC, to the late A. Donovan Rivers and Carolyn Gunter Rivers. He attended Chesterfield schools where he played football and baseball in high school and was President of his senior class.
Don attended The Citadel in Charleston, SC, where he was a member of the Summerall Guards, an elite, silent precision drill platoon. He graduated in 1968 with a degree in Business Administration.
Upon graduation, he began his career in banking in Florence, SC. He relocated to Charlotte, NC, in the early 1980s and followed a career in medical practice management until his retirement.
Don was an avid hunter and a member of the Masons and Rotary Club.
Don married Diane Brackett Rivers in 1987. They had three sons: Trey, Brandon, and Ben.
Don and Diane moved to Morganton, NC, where they were members of the First Presbyterian Church.
He is survived by his wife, his three sons, and four grandchildren Hayden, Madison, Brantley and Jackson, and numerous nieces and nephews.
A funeral service to celebrate the life of Don “Donnie” Rivers, Jr. will be 2:00 PM Monday, November 20, 2023 from the Chapel of Miller-Rivers-Caulder Funeral Home officiated by Brent Taylor with burial to follow in the Chesterfield Cemetery.
The family will greet friends from 1:00 -2:00 PM Monday, prior to the service at the funeral home.
