Alfred was born on April 11,1928 and is preceded in death by his wife, Jean Adeline (Onwiler) George in 2016. His parents were Maynard Luther George and Roxie Jewel (Briggs) George of Calhoun, MO. Alfred had two sisters, Elizabeth Jewel Finks (husband Earl) who passed away in 2013 and Judith Ann Cochran (and husband Jim) who reside in
North Kansas City, MO. Alfred and his wife Jean are survived by their four children: James George and wife Debbie, of
Fort Worth, TX, Kenneth George and his wife Debi, of Goodyear, AZ, Elizabeth Hilton and her husband Frank, and Keith George and his wife Karen, all of
Ozark, MO. Alfred also is survived by 12 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, a number of extended family members and a host of friends who he loved very much.
Alfred graduated from Calhoun Missouri High School in 1944. He married Jean Onwiler, his high school sweetheart, in 1947. He worked with his father on the family farm north of Calhoun raising cattle until the early 1950s and then began working as an electrician on government projects across central Missouri. He and his family moved to
Springfield, MO in 1957 where he worked at the Royal McBee factory as a maintenance supervisor. A couple years later, he had the opportunity to begin working at Midwest Electric Co. in Springfield as an estimator. After a few years, he acquired his Master Electrical License and decided to start his own commercial electrical business called Ozarks Electric Inc. and later as ABC Electric Inc. until he retired in 1988.
Alfred and wife Jean were always extremely active with their children's activities and their involvement with their church was a priority. They both sang in the choir. Alfred even led the congregational worship occasionally in his home church of Calhoun. They loved southern gospel music and spent many years attending concerts and events. He and Jean were also avid RVers. They loved the camping life and pulling that travel trailer all over the country seeing the sites. Alfred was not only a good electrician. He knew how to fix just about anything and was always working on some project. His sons are thankful for all the household repair tasks he taught them how to tackle while they were growing up. Alfred and Jean moved to Nixa after he retired and then a few years after his wife passed away, he moved to the Baptist Home community in
Ozark, MO. On behalf of the family, we want to extend our sincere thanks to the entire Baptist Home staff for the constant care and wonderful assistance our father enjoyed during his nearly two short years as a resident of the patio homes and later in the extended care facilities. We also express our gratitude to Gorman-Scharpf Funeral Home Staff.
