Alfred "Rick" Gomes

Alfred "Rick" Gomes, 86, passed away peacefully at his home in Stayton on Sunday, October 27, 2024 to be reunited in heaven with his two sons Richard and Robert. He is survived by his beloved wife of 58 years Barbara Gomes and his two daughters Nickie Harris and Steffanie Piccirilli.
Rick was born on July 25, 1938 in Oahu, Hawaii and carried the aloha spirit wherever he went, blessing countless lives with his warmth, kindness and hospitality. He had a gift for making those he encountered, whether a lifelong friend or a passing acquaintance, feel special and loved. And he routinely opened his home to celebrate Pau Hana, a Hawaiian tradition for gathering at the end of the work week. That tradition will carry on in his memory.
As a devoted Catholic and member of the Knights of Columbus, Rick's love for God was central to his life and guided his generosity and compassion for others.
He was also a veteran and proud member of the U.S. Marine Corps.
Rick leaves behind a legacy of warmth and kindness that will live on in the hearts of his family and friends. In lieu of flowers or gifts, those who wish to honor Rick's memory are invited to make donations to Regis St. Mary Catholic School (www.regisstmary.org/give), where his children and grandchildren attended.
A rosary and funeral mass will be held on November 14, 2024 at Immaculate Conception Church in Stayton. The rosary will begin at 10:30 AM with services following at 11 AM.
