Alfred F. Lanza, affectionately known as “Mr. Al” of Pelham, NY, passed away on Friday August 2, 2024, at the Autumn Lake Care Center in Croften, MD. He was 86 years old. Born in Mount Vernon, NY, to Frank and Anne Lanza, Al was one of 6 children. Alfred graduated from Pelham Memorial High School where he met his former wife, Mary. The couple would marry and raise their 3 children in Pelham, NY.
Alfred worked as a custodian for the Pelham Public School System for over 48 years. He had a strong work ethic and loved his job. Alfred touched the lives of numerous children who walked the halls and classrooms of Siwanoy School.
Alfred always made sure family came first and always enjoyed spending time surrounded by family and friends. He was always there for his children. When Alfred was not at work or taking care of the family, he could be found on the open road riding his beloved motorcycles or lending a hand to anyone that asked for his help or advice.
Alfred will be remembered as a devoted father, grandfather, great-grandfather, relative and wonderful friend. He will be dearly missed; however his family finds comfort in the many treasured memories he leaves behind.
Al is survived by his children, Alfred, Roy and Elizabeth and Jackie. He will be missed by his grandchildren, Carolyn, Danielle, Alfred, Melissa, Matthew, Joseph and Maria. He will also be missed by his great-grandchildren, Emily, Jordan, Aubrey, Gracie, Lily, Josephine and Jocelyn, and his siblings, Barbara, Richard, Robert and Frank.
Al is predeceased by his brother, George.
A celebration of Alfred’s life will take place at the Pelham Funeral Home located at 64 Lincoln Ave., Pelham NY on Monday August 12, 2024, between the hours of 4:00 PM and 8:00 PM. Interment will take place on Tuesday August 13,2024 at 10:00 AM at Beechwoods Cemetery located at 179 Beechwood Ave, New Rochelle, NY 10801.
