Alfred Lee Ledbetter, 91, entered heaven to be with his Lord and Savior on Saturday, August 3, 2024. He was born on April 11,1933 in Marlin, Texas to Roland Lee (Boots) and Jennie Belle (Hickman) Ledbetter, the youngest of 9 children.
Alfred Lee attended Bruceville-Eddy ISD as a child. He spent his younger adult years serving our country in the Army and was stationed in France. After leaving the army, he worked for Knowles Heavy Equipment in Wichita Falls, TX and Nacogdoches, TX operating heavy equipment for three years. In 1960, he switched careers and chose truck driving as his career path. He retired from Consolidated Freight as a truck driver in 1995. His retirement years included being a Post Commander of VFW Post 4376 in Seven Points, TX; member of Masonic Lodge 1431; Scottish Rite Dallas; Sharon Shrine Tyler; and American Legion 310 Gun Barrel City.
As an adult Alfred was baptized at Bisbee Baptist Church in Mansfield, TX. His hobbies included fishing, spending time with family and friends, and he loved to dance.
Alfred is survived by three children, daughter Debbie (Stevie) Reese of Grand Prairie, TX; son Steve (Shelly) Ledbetter of Palmer, TX; and daughter Pam Stenner of Springtown, TX. Three stepchildren, Wendy (Tim) Mack of Frisco, TX; Billy (Cindy;) Adams of Argyle, TX, and Shannon Adams of Plano, TX. Grandchildren, Tonya (Mark) Bone, Wendy Angell, Wesley Ledbetter, Misty (Bobby) Washington, Daniel Hurtado, Stevie Reese Jr, Brandon Ledbetter (Courtney), Austin (Hunter) Stenner, Austin Fuller, Natasha (Aaron) Sanchez, Braidon Gribble, Joshua Adams, Caleb Adams, Emma Adams, and Miranda Mack, 20 great grandchildren, and 6 great-great grandchildren. He's also survived by several nieces and nephews who know him as "Uncle Buddy".
He is preceded in death by his parents, four brothers, four sisters, son in law Mark Stenner, daughter Larrissia Moore, several nieces and nephews.
Visitation is 10:00AM Saturday, August 10,2024 at Huckabee-Tomlinson Funeral Home, 403 E Royall Blvd., Malakoff, TX. Service is at 11:00AM. Interment to follow at Laurel Oaks Cemetery, 12649 Lake June Rd., Mesquite, TX. Robby Kirby and Billy Adams officiating.
Pallbearers are Danny Hurtado, Brandon Ledbetter, Stevie Reese, Austin Stenner, Billy Adams, and Landon Ledbetter. Honorary Pallbearers are Donald Kemp, Aaron Hunter, Evan Ledbetter, Reese Angell, Trey Bone, Tristan Angell, Stetson Stenner, and Wesley Ledbetter. In lieu of flowers, the family request donations to be made to Shriners.
