Alfred E. Leslie
October 8, 1948 – October 14, 2025
Alfred E. Leslie, age 77, of Englewood, Florida, passed away peacefully on October 14, 2025, surrounded by the love of his family.
Born on October 8, 1948, in River Edge, New Jersey, Al lived a life dedicated to service, generosity, and adventure. He spent most of his working years with Verizon. His professional life was marked by leadership, innovation, and deep commitment to his team.
Al's sense of duty extended far beyond his career. He served as a volunteer firefighter in both River Edge and East Brunswick, NJ. He established and officiated as the first Fire Commissioner in East Brunswick, serving for 10 years. An Eagle Scout in his youth, Al continued to live out the Scout oath throughout his life-leading scout troops during his son's youth and into his retirement years.
A man of deep compassion, Al devoted much of his time to mission and disaster relief work. He made multiple trips to Zimbabwe to help build communities, participated in the Appalachia Service Project (ASP) repairing homes, and assisted in hurricane disaster relief efforts in the Carolinas, Louisiana and Florida.
Al's favorite activities were camping, biking, golfing, snow skiing, and traveling.
He was a loving brother, husband, father, grandfather, and uncle. He will be remembered for his warm heart, generous spirit, and infectious smile. He leaves behind a legacy of service, compassion, and love that will continue to live on through the many lives he has touched.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, November 8th at 11:00am at Englewood Methodist Church, Englewood, FL. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association or Englewood Methodist Church (Cuba Mission).

Al came into my life through my second mother, and from the start, I could see what a kind and genuine man he was. He had a quiet strength about him - steady, thoughtful, and always quick with a smile or a joke to lighten the moment.

I might not have been his son, but Al never made me feel like anything less than family. He welcomed me, and my family, with open arms and an open heart. That meant more than words can say.

The pictures below were taken on my 50th birthday cruise - a trip filled with laughter, stories, and memories I´ll carry with me for the rest of my life. That´s how I´ll always remember him - smiling, enjoying life, and surrounded by those who loved him.

He will be deeply missed, often thought about, and never forgotten.
Until we meet again, sir.
