Alfred J. Marini, Jr., 93, of Cedar Grove, NJ passed away on Monday, February 24, 2025. Born and raised in Brooklyn, NY, he resided there until moving to Cedar Grove several years ago.
A proud Marine veteran, he served in the Korean War.
A devoted NY Mets fan, he was an avid gardener who was known for his colossal tomatoes. Al enjoyed the sunshine and crossword puzzles and will be remembered for his strong faith.
Prior to retiring, he was an underwriter with Home Insurance Company in New York, NY.
Beloved husband of the late Grace (Di Pasquale) Marini. Loving father of Joseph A. Marini and Steven G. Marini and wife, Joan. Cherished grandfather of Joseph Marini and wife Heather, Jessica Marini, Christina Marini and Matthew Marini. Adored great-grandfather of Olivia Rose Marini. Dear brother of the late Gerard Marini and wife Rita and Stella Belli and husband John.
The family will receive relatives and friends Tuesday, February 25, 2025, from 4-8 pm at Shook's Cedar Grove Funeral Home, 486 Pompton Avenue, Cedar Grove. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, February 26, 2025, 10 am at St. Catherine of Siena R.C. Church, 339 Pompton Avenue, Cedar Grove. Entombment will follow at St. Charles Cemetery in Farmingdale, NY.
In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Alfred may be made to Xavier Mission, 30 W 16th Street, New York, NY would be appreciated.
