Mr. Alfred G. Mispilkin, Sr. 87
January 19, 1938 – August 13, 2025
Salem – Mr. Alfred Mispilkin, Sr, 87, of Salem, passed away on Wednesday, August 13, 2025 at Salem Hospital. He was the devoted husband of Elaine (Bonin) Mispilkin who had been happily married for 38 wonderful years.
Born in Amesbury, MA, Alfred was the son of the late Michael Mispilkin and Blanche (Provencher). After his schooling, he served honorably in the U.S. Navy aboard the Franklin D. Roosevelt as a Chief Petty Officer.
For many years Alfred worked in maintenance and carpentry at Salem State College, where he dedicated 12 years of service.
Alfred loved dogs, including his most recent dog Chipper and his son's dog Kylo. He loved making apple pies and was an excellent cook whose specialty was spaghetti and meatballs. He enjoyed visiting the shops in North Conway, NH and he loved the snow and shoveling and returning home with big red rosy cheeks. He had a watchful eye for his neighbors and was always available to help them when they were in need. This earned him the title of the "go to guy" in the neighborhood.
In addition to his wife Elaine, Alfred is survived by his children, Alfred G. "Buddy" Mispilkin, Jr, and his life partner Barbara Gilford, of MA, David W. Mispilkin of MA, and Donna Mispilkin of MA; his brothers, Michael Mispilkin and his wife Donna of NC, and Ronald Mispilkin of MA; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; as well as several nieces and nephews. He will be missed by all who knew him. Alfred was predeceased by his son, Michael R. Mispilkin, and his brothers Wayne, Gary, and Richard.
Relatives and friends are invited to visiting hours on Wednesday, August 20, 2025 from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Berube & Sons Funeral Home, 191 Lafayette St., Salem. His funeral will be held on Thursday at 11:00 a.m. at St. James Church, Federal St., Salem and the family will be gathering directly at the church. Burial will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery, Salem.
