On June 23, 1982 Alfred was united in marriage to Sophia Martha Root and she preceded him in death on February 2, 2013. He is survived by his two sons, Alfred Root, Jr. and Shawn Root; and several nieces and nephews. Alfred was also preceded in death by his siblings, Zada Love (Root), Ada Kintz (Root), William Root, Charles Root, Marie Bennett (Root) and Mae Bennett (Root).
The Funeral Service will take place at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, March 4, 2025 at Trahan Funeral Chapel with Pastor Gib Giblin officiating. Private interment will be at Chase Twp. Cemetery near Reed City. Visitation will be on Tuesday from 12:00 to 1:00 p.m. Charitable contributions may be directed to the wishes of the family.
