Alfred Gene Stevens was born August 7, 1946 in Washington D.C. to the late Versa Vee Gillespie and Alfred Dines Parker. He spent much of his childhood with his beloved Grandmother Velma Gillespie. During his childhood, Alfred's mother remarried and his family moved to Missouri where Alfred was educated and graduated from Marshall High School in Marshall, Missouri. Alfred accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized. He later served as a Deacon at Conifer Community Church.
Alfred enlisted in the Air Force in June 1965 and earned the rank of Sergeant before being Honorably Discharged in June 1971. During Alfred's service he was an electronic technician in Vietnam and earned the National Defense Service Medal, the Vietnam Services Medal with one Bronze Service Star, and the Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal (AFM 900-3). In May 1969, Alfred married Vila Gene McGilberry in Los Angeles, California and shortly thereafter they moved to Colorado where they eventually purchased a home in the mountain town of Conifer. Alfred spent his career working with Xerox Corporation as a technician and throughout the years earned numerous service awards. He retired from Xerox in 2003. During his later years, Alfred continued to serve others as evidenced by him being elected Resident Council President at his Senior Living Complex.
Throughout his life Alfred had a passion for building model airplanes and loved to fly them with his friends. He also loved to travel with his family, especially to places by the ocean where he could indulge in his love for snorkeling and scuba diving. Alfred was known by many as a kind-hearted man who loved to laugh and enjoy life to the fullest.
Alfred is survived by his wife, Vila, to whom he was married for 56 years; his daughter Vilenda; his granddaughter Victavia; and a host of relatives and friends.
