Alfredo Eduardo Astrain

Alfredo Eduardo Astrain, age 71, of Keyport, passed away peacefully on Monday, September 22, 2025, at Jersey Shore Medical Center in Neptune, surrounded by his devoted family.

Born in La Plata, Buenos Aires, Argentina, Alfredo was the cherished son of the late Regino and Maria Astrain. In 1987, he made the decision to move to the United States, where he built a life rooted in hard work, dedication, and love. He and his family lived in the Ironbound Section of Newark for over 30 years and eventually settled in Keyport, NJ with his wife.

A skilled and hardworking welder, Alfredo was employed by DAR PRO Solutions in Newark, New Jersey, where he proudly worked for many years. He was known by his colleagues for his strong work ethic, reliability, and unwavering commitment to his craft. He was also the business owner of LaLa's BBQ in Sayreville, NJ where he was known for his delicious empanadas and BBQ.

Above all, Alfredo was a devoted family man. He is survived by his beloved wife of 43 years, Alicia Astrain; his loving daughter Victoria and her husband Esteban; and his treasured grandson Liam, who brought him endless joy. He also leaves behind his dear mother-in-law Maria Irma, brother-in-law Daniel Safronchik, his lifelong best friend Raul Pourtale and family, along with many loving extended family members and friends who will miss him deeply.

Alfredo will be remembered for his strength, loyalty, excellent cooking skills, his love for music, politics, and books. He leaves behind a wonderful legacy of what a father, husband, grandfather, and friend should be. Everyone fortunate enough to have known him will know that even though he wasn't a people person he left his mark wherever he went and with whomever he shared a conversation with.
