Alfredo Alfonso Montoya passed away March 27, 2023, at the age of 73 surrounded by his family. He was a native El Pasoan.
Preceded in death by his parents Benjamin Montoya and Ana Maria Montoya. He is survived by his wife, Margarita Montoya, his twin sons Alberto and Alfonso, his daughter Veronica and his grandchildren Alan Alfonso, Michelle Andrea, Samantha Abigial, Victoria Adina, Luke Alfonso, Leslie Zarahi, and Isaiah Elijah, who are all proud to call Alfredo "Grandpa". He is also survived by his siblings Silvia Montoya Williams, Laura Rico, Jose Alberto Montoya, and Anabel Montoya.
Fred graduated from El Paso High School in 1968. After high school he joined the US Navy where he served from September 10, 1968, to October 2, 1972. He attended the basic electricity and electronics school at the Great Lakes, Illinois Training Center and the Class A Interior Communications School at Great Lakes. He later served aboard the guided missile destroyer USS Farragut.
After he was discharged from the Navy, in 1972, he attended the University of Texas at El Paso and received a degree in Communications. For 20 years he worked as a business executive in the Commercial Import and Export Trade in El Paso. Throughout his life, Fred’s passion and focus continued to be in real estate.
Later in life, Fred received a master’s degree in education and dedicated many years teaching in El Paso, Texas and in Phoenix, Arizona.
He was a proud father devoted to his children and grandchildren, his Christian faith, and his country.
Visitation will be at 11:00 AM, with Funeral Service at 12:30 PM, on Wednesday, April 5, 2023 at Sunset Funeral Homes- Northeast, 4631 Hondo Pass. Committal Service will follow at 2:30 PM at Fort Bliss National Cemetery.
