Alice Billman, 88, of Barrington, passed away peacefully on April 13th, leaving behind a legacy of love, learning, and service.
Alice was born and raised in Olney, Illinois, one of ten children in a close-knit family. She is survived by three cherished sisters and was preceded in death by four brothers and two sisters. Alice completed her Bachelor of Science in Education at Eastern Illinois University and began her masters program at Colorado State University before meeting the love of her life, Eugene Earl Billman.
Alice and Earl married in 1962 and celebrated 59 years together before he passed away in 2022. Together, they raised five children: Mike Billman (wife Vonda), Jim Billman, Dan Billman (special friend Kelly O’Mara), Suzanne Billman, and John Billman (wife Jonna Froelich). She was a proud grandmother to Cody Billman (wife Nikki) and Tucker Billman (wife Claire), and a great-grandmother to three great-grandchildren. She instilled her values of faith, family and community in everyone she loved.
A much-loved teacher, Alice touched countless lives through her work at Chatsworth High School, Lincoln-Way High School in New Lenox and St. Anne Catholic School in Barrington. She brought warmth, wisdom, and care into every classroom. Beyond teaching, she gave generously of her time as a dedicated volunteer with 4H and the St. Anne Catholic Community.
Alice will be remembered as the most kind and loving mother, wife, and friend - a woman whose great sense of humor, gentle strength and endless compassion made the world brighter for those who knew her.
Visitation will be held on Friday, May 9 beginning at 9:30 a.m. until the time of the funeral mass at 10:30 a.m. at St. Anne Catholic Community, 120 Ela St. (Corner of Franklin and Ela Sts.) in Barrington, IL. Interment for Alice and Earl to follow at Evergreen Cemetery.
