Kramer-Grau Funeral Homes & Crematory, Inc. - LancasterAlice “Joanie” Brackett, age 98, of Lancaster, passed away on Wednesday, September 17, 2025, at Orchard Manor Nursing Home in Lancaster. She was born on March 30, 1927, in Lancaster, the daughter of John and Mary (Moorehouse) Ertz. Alice married William Brackett on May 14, 1948, at St. Clement Catholic Church in Lancaster. She worked at the hotel and later managed the lunch program at St. Clement Catholic School until she retired. In her free time, Alice enjoyed playing cards. She also helped with mass and communion at St. Clement parish. Alice loved watching the Green Bay Packers and the Wisconsin Badgers.
Survivors include her children: Mary Sue (Dave) Luhman, Gregory (Jean) Brackett, Michael (Barb) Brackett, Timothy and David Brackett; seven grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; a sister, Frances (Dick) Dent; several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Alice was preceded in death by her husband, William; a daughter-in-law, Brenda Brackett; four sisters and two brothers.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, October 14, 2025, at 11:30 a.m. at St. Clement Catholic Church in Lancaster with Father Mark Miller officiating. Private family burial will be in St. Clement Cemetery, Lancaster. Family and friends may visit on Tuesday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of services at the church. In lieu of plants and flowers, the family suggest memorials be given in memory of Alice “Joanie” Brackett to Grant County Hospice. Kramer-Grau Funeral Homes & Crematory in Lancaster is entrusted with her care.
The family extends a special thank you to Grant County Hospice, especially Kim Martens, for their care and compassion.
