Alice (Lackey) Byrge, age 84 of the Low Gap community passed away peacefully at her home on Tuesday, September 3, 2024. Born April 21, 1940, she was the daughter of the late Andrew Lackey and Laura Lackey.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by the father of her children, Verlin Byrge; children, Dewayne Smith, Junior Byrge, and Decky Byrge; daughter-in-law, Sherri Overton; sisters, Susie Clark, Paulina Stephens, and Wilma Buttram; and her brothers, Harold Lackey and R.T. Lackey.
Alice is survived by her children, Verlin (Barney) Byrge, Donald Ray Byrge and fiancée Megan Terry; her sister, Cledus Cook; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; many other relatives and special friend, Libby Davidson, special niece, Lou Lackey Lindsay to mourn the passing of Alice, may she rest in peace.
Friends may visit with the Byrge family on Sunday, September 8, 2024, from 12 p.m. until time of the funeral service at 1 p.m. in the chapel of West-Murley Funeral Home with Bro. Dilbert Terry officiating. Music will be provided by Arzo and Linda Hamby.
Committal service will follow in the Daniel Memorial Cemetery in Helenwood. Pallbearers will be family and friends.
