Alice Marie Devantier, a beacon of unwavering faith and boundless love, passed away peacefully on August 6, 2025, at her home in Attica, Michigan. Born on August 29, 1943, in Camp Rucker, Alabama, Alice's journey through life was marked by her deep commitment to her family, her church, and her community.
Alice's life was a testament to the power of love and devotion. She married the love of her life, Richard Devantier, on May 15, 1965, in Fraser, Michigan, and their union was blessed with 56 years of shared memories and unwavering partnership until Richard's passing. Together, they welcomed their loving daughter, Neva Cafarillia, who would become one of the many joys of Alice's life.
A cherished sister, Alice's siblings, Jean Wittig, Dorothy (Ronald) Devantier, James (Judy) Kosciolko, Dennis (Linda) Kollmorgen, Patti (Steve) Sieger, and sister-in-law Ruth Ann Kollmorgen, will fondly remember her thoughtful nature and courageous spirit. Her granddaughters, Kaitlyn and Hannah Rhein, along with her great-grandchildren, Emma and Mason, were the light of her life, and she reveled in every moment spent with them.
Alice's faith was the cornerstone of her existence. A long-standing member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church in Richmond, she dedicated countless hours to serving and volunteering in various capacities, including her involvement with the Lutheran Women's Missionary League (LWML). Her faith-filled life was an inspiration to all who knew her.
Her interests were as diverse as they were passionate. Alice was an avid bowler and golfer, finding joy in the camaraderie and challenge of the games. She was an enthusiast of the natural world, delighting in birdwatching and wildlife. Alice's love for animals was evident in her affection for her cherished cats, Ike and Mike, and the horses she so enjoyed riding.
Alice's home was a hub of warmth and activity, where playing cards, watching her favorite sports teams, and indulging in soap operas were regular pastimes. Her adventurous spirit took her across the United States, exploring the beauty of the country she loved.
Those who knew Alice will remember her as a woman of great courage and thoughtfulness. Her legacy will live on in the hearts of her family, her friends, and all the lives she touched with her kindness and grace.
Alice's departure from this world leaves behind a void that will be felt by many, but the memories she created and the love she shared will continue to resonate for generations to come. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Richard, her mother, Evalyn, her brother, Glen Kollmorgen, her nephew, Michael, and her in-laws, Howard and Dorothy Devantier, and brother-in-law, Denis.
