Alice Ann "Ginnie" Dvorsky, a beacon of love and friendship, passed away on July 1, 2025 in Cortlandt, NY. Born on July 14, 1945, in Astoria Queens, NY, Ginnie's life was a tapestry of devotion to her family, a commitment to education, and a heart filled with joy for the simple pleasures of life.
Ginnie's journey began as the cherished daughter of her late parents in the bustling neighborhood of Astoria, Queens. Her zest for knowledge led her to Adelphi University, where she laid the foundation for her future. It was in Patchogue, NY, on March 23, 1968, that she married David Dvorsky, the love of her life and soul mate. Their union was blessed with two daughters, Alicia Dvorsky and Amy Carinci (Nicholas), and further sweetened by the arrival of treasured grandchildren, Anna and Kaylee.
A homemaker during her children's school years, Ginnie went back to the workforce as a Special Education Teacher's Assistant at Carmel Central School District until her retirement in 2019. Her dedication to the community was evident through her roles as a former PTA President, as a President of the Patterson Rangerettes Baton Twirling Group as well as her involvement in the Girl Scouts. Ginnie's leadership and friendly demeanor left a lasting impact on all those she worked with.
Family was the cornerstone of Ginnie's world, with her grandchildren being the greatest joy of her life. She found immense pleasure in doing word search puzzles, watching the delicate dance of hummingbirds, and creating memories with her family on Long Island. Retirement brought new delights, as she cherished the regular lunches with former coworkers, catching up and sharing laughter.
Ginnie's sister and brother-in-law, Janice and Joe Jurgens, along with her entire family, will fondly remember her loving nature and the warmth she brought to every gathering. She was a friend to many, always ready with a kind word and a smile.
In the words of Helen Keller, "What we have once enjoyed we can never lose. All that we love deeply becomes a part of us". Ginnie's love and friendship indeed became a part of all who knew her, and her legacy of kindness will continue to resonate through the lives she touched.
Alice Ann "Ginnie" Dvorsky lived a life marked by love, friendship and the joy of everyday wonders. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered as a guiding light in the lives of her beloved family and friends.
