Robert J. Dvorsky

Robert J. Dvorsky, of State College, went to be with the Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Aug. 31, 2025.

Born in 1943 and raised in Lansford, Bob was a son of the late Joseph and Matilda (Stricek) Dvorsky.

He was also predeceased by the love of his life, Theresa (Kachurak) Dvorsky, who passed away on June 30, 2025, and his sister, Bernice Nerenberg.

He is survived by his children, Christine, wife of Martin Lukowitsch of Charlotte, N.C., Kathy Dvorsky of Emmaus, and Joseph Dvorsky and his wife, Katherine Frank, of Menomonie, WI.

A 1961 graduate of Lansford High School, Bob matriculated to Penn State University, graduating in 1965, and began a 22-year career with PPL Corp. Eventually, Bob and Theresa founded Valley Athletic Supply in Lansford, purchased the Panther Valley Mini Mall, and successfully ran both businesses for many years.

After retiring to State College, Bob enjoyed cheering for Penn State athletic teams and was a very active member of Oakwood Presbyterian Church.

He worked for the local Mercedes Benz dealer, sold medical insurance, and was a supervisor and tour guide at the Penn State All Sports Museum.

A lifelong fitness buff, he was an avid runner and golfer.

Mostly, Bob was a devoted husband, father and friend who touched the lives of many with his boundless curiosity and enthusiasm.

Service: Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the E. Franklin Griffiths Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 655 E. Broad St., Tamaqua. A celebration of Bob's life will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Sept. 19, at the funeral home. Friends and family may visit from 9:30-11 a.m. Friday.
