WALLINGFORD - Alice Treadway Gow (Darius) Fekete departed this life on March 14, 2025, at the age of 90. She was born on June 30, 1934, in New Haven, to the late Arthur Robert and Alice Hayden (Treadway) Gow. She was the loving wife of the late E. William Fekete.
Professionally, Alice had lengthy tenures as an administrative assistant at CT Hospital Association and later as the church secretary for The First Baptist Church (FBC) of Wallingford. She was a beloved member, volunteer, and elder at FBC for more than 50 years. She was also a passionate volunteer for the Dominican Republic Mission Team, having participated in more than a dozen one-week service trips in La Romana, right up until last year.
Alice loved nature and found great joy gardening in her yard, caring for her extensive array of plants, spending time at the beach (especially Hawk's Nest Beach), and traveling to Rangeley, Maine. She was also an avid fan of all kinds of puzzles, especially jigsaw. She regularly and proudly beat her children and grandchildren at Wordle, Connections, and the like. Without question, the thing that brought her the most joy was time with her extensive family.
Alice's legacy will endure, cherished by her three daughters Elizabeth (Timothy) Fekete, Aimée (John) Powers, Jenni (Paul) French, her step-son Mark (Sharon) Fekete and her step-daughter-in-law Judy Fekete. She is also survived by seven grandchildren: Timothy (Stephanie) Fekete, Joshua (Jake) Powers, Rachel (John) Seferian, Matthew (Chrissy) Powers, Turner French, Rebekah Powers, and Hayden French; and four step-grandchildren Kathryn (Thomas) Fekete, Peter (Claire) Fekete, Dana (Chris) Longley, and Jacqueline Hoell. She is also survived by four great-grandchildren: Hannah and Aly Seferian, and Lucy and Gabe Fekete.
Alice was preceded in death by her sister Celia Gow Calabresi of Barrington, RI and her uncle Charles Rice Gow of Brookline, MA, both of whom were very special to her, and also two step-sons: E. William Fekete, Jr. and James Fekete.
A funeral service will be held on Friday, March 21st at 11:00 am at The First Baptist Church, 114 N. Main Street, Wallingford. Alice's family will receive visitors at B.C. Bailey Funeral Home, 273 S. Elm Street in Wallingford, on Thursday evening from 4:00 - 6:00 pm. Alice will be laid to rest in Center Street Cemetery in Wallingford. In lieu of flowers, gifts in Alice's memory can be made to the Dominican Republic Mission Team at www.drmissionteam.org. Alice's funeral will be livestreamed at www.BaileyCares.com.
