Alice Marie (Dlouhy) Fisbeck passed away quietly in her sleep in the early morning hours of Sunday, November 30, 2025 at Shady Oaks Nursing Home in Moulton. She was 87 years old. Alice was born on September 25, 1938 in Lavaca County near the area of Mockingbird Hill outside of Moulton to Vladik and Mary (Rebecek) Dlouhy. She was the oldest of six children. She attended Evergreen School near Henkhaus and then attended Moulton High School where she graduated in 1956. It was there that she met the love of her life, Victor “David” Fisbeck. He was in the same grade and they became a steadfast couple throughout high school. They were married on September 22, 1958 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church with Father Joseph Kopp officiating.

The young couple resided in Moulton and then moved to Nashville, Tennessee where David attended diesel mechanic school for six months. While there, the couple enjoyed attending “The Grand Ole Opry” at every opportunity and enjoyed all that was Nashville. The couple returned to Texas, taking up residence in El Campo for a while and then moved to Victoria for David’s job opportunities.

The couple welcomed their first child, Mava Sue in 1962 followed by Gerald Glen in 1963 and then Nina Marie in 1967. The couple lived in the Crescent Valley area outside of Victoria until 1975. They then moved their family to Moulton to take over David’s parents grocery store, Fisbeck Grocery. This became a family affair with the whole family working at the store. Alice was the main cashier and was often the first and last person one saw in the store. The business closed in 1994.

Alice cherished her family, knowing they were the most important blessing in her life. She was an accomplished seamstress, chauffeur for her kids activities including dance lessons, Girl Scouts, Boy Scouts, 4-H, baseball, etc.. With the move to Moulton, Alice became an avid Bobkat basketball fan, attending all of her childrens games and later, going to the games because she loved following the teams that would eventually include her grandchildren too.

Alice was very social. In Victoria, she loved to play softball, she & David enjoyed dancing and playing “42" dominoes. The family enjoyed going to Canyon Lake once a boat was purchased in 1970 where they boated and swam and camped. Upon moving to Moulton, she played volleyball, became active in the Catholic Daughters, Altar Society, Christian Mothers, VFW Auxiliary, the KJT, A.C.T.S community and was an active member of both St. Joseph’s Catholic Church and the Old Moulton Baptist Church. Later in life, she enjoyed a game of bingo, the occasional game of Bunco and any bible study that was being offered. Her most favorite activity was dancing. If there was music playing, her feet were tapping.

Alice and David were married 51 years at the time of his passing in 2009. They enjoyed traveling without any particular destination and found the most remote and remarkable eateries along with amazing scenery, depending on the season.

Alice was preceded in death by her husband, David; her parents, her sister Georgia Berckenhoff, her brothers-in-law’s Eugene Berckenhoff, Garland Welfl and Scott Penner.

Survivors include her daughters Mava Sue Jalufka ( Marcus), Nina Marie Blaschke (Danny), both of Moulton and her son, Gerald Glen Fisbeck (Joan) of Hallettsville. Alice, who was fondly called Granny, is survived by those closest to her heart, her grandchildren being Stayton Jalufka of Moulton, Cameron Jalufka (Ashleigh) of Georgetown, Mitchell Blaschke (Brittani) of San Antonio, Erin Blaschke (Hayden) of Moulton, David Anthony Fisbeck and Julianne Fisbeck, both of Hallettsville. She is also survived by her siblings: Doris Foster of Moulton, Harvey Dlouhy (Diana) of Shiner, Shirley Welfl (Bubba) of Moulton and Lynne Penner of Houston. She is survived by seven nieces and one nephew as well as numerous great nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers are grandsons Stayton Jalufka, Cameron Jalufka, Mitchell Blaschke, brother Harvey Dlouhy, nephew Darrin Foster, and cousin-in-law Howard Johnson.

Honorary pallbearers are grandchildren Erin Blaschke, David A. Fisbeck, Julianne Fisbeck, granddaughter-in-law Ashleigh Jalufka and great-niece Ryatt Gold.

Thank you to the staff of Shady Oaks Nursing Center that treated Alice as their own loved one and to Crown Hospice for their professionalism and guidance during her last days.
