Alice Goode Higgins, age 86 of Louisville, Kentucky passed away Monday, December 29, 2025. She was born in Clementsville, Kentucky and graduated from St. Bernard School at the age of 16. She then immediately moved to Louisville to attend St. Joseph Infirmary School of Nursing. She met her husband James Higgins and had 5 children.
Alice won the Excellence in Nursing award from Robley Rex VA hospital where she worked for over 15 years. She was an avid reader, walker and travelled the world. She was a caring and happy person with a quick wit. She enjoyed and loved spending time with her grandchildren. Alice loved the beach and took her family on many beach vacations. She will be desperately missed by all those that she has left behind. Our hearts are so broken by this loss. Alice was one of a kind and to be loved by her was to be truly blessed.
Alice is preceded in death by her husband, James Higgins, Sr.; her parents, Lindsey and Mae Montgomery Goode; her brothers, Lilburn Goode, Frank Goode, Robert Goode and Jack Goode; her sisters, Louella Clements, Rene Rodman, Betty Hamilton, Linda Maier and Arline Goode.
Alice is survived by her loving children, Lori Higgins, Linda Higgins, Amy Vail (Jim), Theresa Reynolds (Tim) and James Higgins Jr. (Jennifer); grandchildren, Nicholas Vail, Michael Vail, Lindsay Reynolds, Zachary Reynolds, Bradley Reynolds, John Higgins, Abigail Higgins and Austin Higgins; and a host of relatives and friends.
A gathering to celebrate Alice's life will be from 3pm to 6pm on Saturday, January 10, 2026 at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals and Receptions, East Louisville Chapel, 235 Juneau Drive, Louisville, Kentucky 40243.
Memorials may be made in Alice's name to the charity of their choice.
