Alice Jones Obituary

Alice was born March 1, 1949 in Paynesville, WV a daughter of the late Lawson and Daisy Roberts Baker. She was a McDowell County School Bus Driver of 37 ½ years. Alice was of the Old Regular Baptist Faith. She loved making jewelry, gardening, taking care of her flowers and most of all sitting by her fire pit.
In addition to her parents Alice was preceded in death by one son, Gilmer Tracy Jones; one brother Oliver Baker; four brothers-in-law, Larry Smith, Packy Helmintoller, Tommy Cashion and Michael Johnson; niece, Racine Steffanic and her beloved pet, Coco.
Survivors include one son, Casey Lawson Jones of Pleasant Garden, NC and his girlfriend, Sara Shaffer of Climax, NC; six sisters, Dorothy Helmintoller of Kannapolis, NC, Patsy Cashion of Tryon, NC, Judy Vance and Freddy of Paynesville, WV, Lois Ann Keenan of River Falls, SC, Elaine Hagerman and Jeff of Spartanburg, NC, and Melinda Kennedy of Farmington, NM; the father of her sons, Lowell Jones; two sisters-in-law, Joy Walls and Rita Sayer; one brother-in-law, Vaughn Walls; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, August 19, 2023 at 1 o'clock with Elder George Baker, Elder Gary Estep, Elder Fred Bailey, Elder Phillip Hagerman, and Elder Arthur Short officiating at the Mary Lou Old Regular Baptist Church on Panther Creek Road at Paynesville, WV. Burial will follow in the Hannibal Roberts Cemetery at Paynesville, WV. Serving as pallbearers will be Earl Stacy, Michael Vangilder, Freddy Vance, Gabriel Keenan, Jeff Hagerman and Daniel Hagerman. Honorary pallbearers will be Dakota Cashion, Carl Wayne Hagerman, Chris Hagerman, Ernie Spears, Margaret Compton, Iris Shelton, Katherine Dotson, Kenneth and Jason Rowe, and Phillip and Reva Hagerman.
Friends may visit with the family at the Mary Lou Old Regular Baptist Church Friday evening, August 18, 2023 after 6 p.m.; evening services will be held at 7 o'clock.
Fanning Funeral Home in Iaeger is assisting the family.
