Alice Keisling, of Clarks Summit, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family after a brief illness.
Born in Scranton, Alice was the cherished daughter of the late David and Anne Prosser. A 1963 graduate of West Scranton High School, Alice was recognized early in life for her intelligence and drive-earning First Honors in English and Science, being voted "Most Likely to Succeed," and selected among the top 30 academic seniors across the three Scranton high schools. She went on to pursue her passion for helping others at Mercy Hospital School of Nursing, where she graduated as a Registered Nurse.
It was during her nursing studies that she met the love of her life, Ralph Keisling. After marrying, Alice devoted herself fully to her family–a role in which she found profound joy and purpose. She lovingly raised their three children and later became a devoted grandmother, caring for her grandchildren with boundless energy, affection, and pride. Her kitchen was always warm and welcoming, with the scent of a home-cooked meal never far away. Whether it was a late-night snack or a holiday feast, Alice prepared every dish with love, delighting in feeding those she cared for.
Alice's greatest gift was the way she cared for others-with a quiet strength, deep compassion, and unwavering devotion. She was the heart of her family, and her absence will be deeply felt by all who knew her.
She is survived by her son Matt Keisling and his wife Brooke of Clarks Summit; her daughter Sarah Snyder and husband Andy, also of Clarks Summit; and her beloved grandchildren Linley, Aiden, Paige, and Gabrielle. She is also survived by her brothers David (Shirley) of Stroudsburg and William (Joan), along with her nieces.
Alice was preceded in death by her husband Ralph, her eldest daughter Rachel, and her nephew Nicholas.
A joint memorial service to honor both Alice and her daughter Rachel will be held on Friday, August 8th, from 11:00 AM to 12:30 PM at Edward J. Chomko Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 262 Railroad Avenue, West Scranton. Mark Stuenzi of LCBC Church will graciously lead the service in celebration of their lives and legacies.
The family wishes to extend heartfelt thanks to the staff of Marywood Heights and Allied Services Hospice. Your compassion, care, and support in her final days will never be forgotten.
