Alice Lorraine Lacy, 90, passed away peacefully at her home in Barboursville, VA, on March 28, 2025. Alice was one of seven children born to William Henry Anderson and Alice B. Anderson of Forest, VA. on September 8, 1934.
At an early age, Alice left her home to reside in Lynchburg and seek employment and to start her family. She was fond of sewing, becoming a seamstress and found herself in the employment of several Lynchburg businesses to include The Old Dale Garment Factory, Leggetts department store, The Jobbing House, and Belk department store prior to her retirement.
Alice was very loved and appreciated by everyone that met her. During her later years when her own children began their families, she affectionately adopted the title “Granny” to family members and friends alike.
At a very early age, Alice gave her life to God and was a lifetime member of Chestnut Grove Baptist Church, Forest, VA. Over the years she served on the adult choir (alto section) and could carry a tune. She also used her exceptional cooking skills with the hospitality ministry.
In addition to her parents, Alice was predeceased by her husband; Harold B. Lacy, son; Kermit A. Lacy, two brothers; Salvandus (Buck) Anderson and Otis Anderson, four sisters; Mary Perry, Annie Owens, Patsy Wheeler, and Linda Hill.
Alice leaves behind to cherish her memories two daughters; Veronica Anderson (Preston) and Pat Mills (Jay), two sons; Jerome Anderson and Gary Anderson (Patsy Vaughan-Anderson), nine grandchildren; Steven Anderson (Teal), Ashley Mills, AJ Mills, Corey Morgan (Selina), Cordelro Moslby (Danita), Catrell Morgan, Loren Young, Britanny Anderson, Joslyne Anderson and a host of many other relatives and friends that loved her and will miss her very much.
A funeral service will be held Friday, April 11, 2025, at 2:00P.M. at Tharp Funeral Home, Lynchburg Chapel. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Interment will be held at Chestnut Grove Baptist Church Forest, VA.
